Re-cap Ellen Show

Ok, as you can see I'm on a YouTube kick. I found the interview that Kellie Pickler did on the Ellen show that I blogged about a little while ago. You have to check it out. It's hysterical.

ACM Promo 2009

Here's a fun tidbit from earlier this year. It's a behind the scenes video of the 2009 ACM Awards Promo Commercial. The actual commercial follows. I worked with Julianne Hough on hair and make-up and if you look closely you'll see my big screen debut. Haha.

Nashville Lifestyle Cover Shoot-Lady A

Here's a picture from one of my latest projects, Nashville Lifestyles cover shoot with Lady Antebellum. Joseph Anthony Baker was the photographer and did an amazing job. The magazine is now on newsstands so go check it out. It was such a hectic day but I think it turned out quite nicely. It started early with hair and make-up for Hillary at her home as the group had many work related ventures through out the day before we all finally convened at Mr. Baker's studio for the cover shoot. There is where I met Charles and Dave and quickly got them camera ready while waiting for Hillary to arrive for her final touch ups. Sadly, I was unable to stay for the whole shoot as I had to race to the airport and catch a flight to Los Angeles for the Coldwater Jane album cover shoot, which to reiterate, comes out in January, so mark your calendars. And also be on the look out for Lady Antebellum's new album in January as well. All in all I feel like I left them in good hands and the pictures turned out amazing.

CMA Week 2009

Ok, so here we go. Last week was hectic. Lots of preparation goes into making everyone look fabulous for the many award shows that encompass the week's festivities. It kicks off with the SESAC Nashville Awards and the BMI Country Awards. These spotlight the top hit makers in writing and publishing. It then concludes with Country Music's biggest night, the CMA Awards. All three venerate the best that Country Music has to offer.
My week started with getting Hillary Scott from Lady Antebellum ready for the SESAC Awards where she was honored for her contributions in the songs "Looking for a Good Time", "I Run to You", and "Love Don't Live Here Anymore". Here is a quick peek of her hair and make-up before she left my studio to walk the red carpet as well as one with her bandmates after receiving her award. Congratulations Hillary!!!!
My next venture was getting Julianne Hough camera ready to present Vocal Duo of the Year Award CMA night. Here's a pic I took in the dressing room right before heading to the stage and also one of her presenting the award with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Kudos to Julianne again for doing a "semi" repeat of last years CMA's for flying in the day of the show and 5 hours later walking out on stage looking fabulous. Girl, I don't know how you do it.
All in all, everyone looked great. The show was a blast. Especially, hanging out backstage where I got to visit with all my fellow stylists and friends and perform the yearly elbow brush with Kid Rock for my friend Bambi who is a professed Kid Rock fanatic.

Ellen

As I was going through my photos pondering my next post, I came across this picture of Kellie Pickler and myself backstage just moments before she rocked the house on The Ellen Show. My good friend Debbie Dover is Kellie's usual hair and makeup guru but in the event that schedules overlap I felt fortunate that Miss Pickler would have me fill in and that I was available. Although Kellie did kick some serious butt on the show, the funniest segment actually happened backstage. Ellen Degeneres gives all her guests an amazing gift package in their dressing room but the most coveted in this package by far is the mens underwear briefs that displays her name on the band. Kellie thought it would be funny to try them on and even made a bold claim that if Ellen would bring Clint Eastwood(whose office was next door and Kellie's all time favorite actor) over for an introduction she would perform in them on the show. Well, while Kellie is modeling the briefs and we are all laughing at the possibility of this fantasy, we feel the presence of another person in the room and turn to find Ellen at the door with a big smile on her face. She's like "whatcha doin"? Kellie proceeded to start screaming and laughing at her embarrassment in being caught but decided to continue the fun and be a good sport and take a picture of herself and tweet about the experience. The picture was hysterical. Hopefully some of you guys reading this saw the show. It was definitely one to remember.

CMA 2008 Recap

With the 2009 CMA awards fast approaching, I thought I'd squeeze in a recap of last years red carpet look of the lovely Miss Julianne Hough. Amber Lehman did an amazing job pairing Julianne with this Angel Sanchez gown and I have to say I didn't do too shabby of a job with her hair and make-up. We all had a blast creating this red carpet look but most the props must be given to Julianne for being such a trooper having danced on Dancing with the Stars in LA some 12 hours earlier then hopping a red eye to Nashville just in time to be dolled up for the CMA's festivities.

Coldwater Jane Album Cover Shoot

Just got back from shooting Coldwater Jane's new album cover. The shoot took place at Disney Studios Golden Oak Ranch outside of Los Angeles. The creative glam team on this project was Darryl Bowslaugh/hair, Angela Cay Hall(me)/make-up, and Claudia Fowler/Wardrobe. Be on the look out for their music in January because this new duo is about to kick country up a notch.
